New York CNN —Champagne sales have lost some of their pop in 2023 following a few record-breaking years of sales spurred by the end of Covid-19 lockdowns. That marks nearly a return to pre-Covid levels in 2019, when 297.3 million bottles were shipped. During its peak in 2022, sales soared by 33%, when 325 million bottles were shipped. The name Champagne is exclusively reserved for wines harvested and produced by 16,200 growers on 34,300 hectares northeast of Paris. This cost France a total of roughly $2 billion in sales, a recent report said.

Kéré’s Berlin-based firm says the building’s top-heavy appearance was inspired by the palaver tree, which traditionally served as a meeting place. Designed for developer s2e Technologies by US architecture firm Gensler, the four circular residential structures can accommodate a combined 84 households. But it is perhaps Bjarke Ingels, founder of Danish design firm BIG, that has had the greatest impact on the city’s once modest skyline. The first restored sections are set to be ready in time for this summer’s Paris Olympics. Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta and local practice Blight Rayner — who together beat more than 20 entries in an international competition — say that the design was inspired by the flow of the Brisbane River.

His death was confirmed in a statement by Dior. Because he worked in an era before fashion became mass entertainment, Mr. Bohan was not required to be visionary. “I’m not designing to please myself or for a photograph,” he told USA Today for a 1988 profile. I have always in mind the reaction of women I know.”Courtly, taciturn and immaculately dapper even by the standards of midcentury Paris, Mr. Bohan was 34 when he was appointed head couturier for the House of Dior in 1960, taking over for the maverick Yves Saint Laurent. Mr. Saint Laurent, then in his early 20s, had been called up by the French Army during the Algerian war for independence.

SummarySummary Companies Adj EPS still seen up by "low single digit" percentage in 2023Q1 operating profit, Dupixent sales beat consensusEstablished MS pill Aubagio hit by U.S. generic competitionApril 27 (Reuters) - French drugmaker Sanofi (SASY.PA) on Thursday posted better-than-expected earnings for the first quarter as continued gains from anti-inflammatory drug Dupixent more than offset declining sales from an established multiple sclerosis drug. It reported an 8.7% rise in quarterly business operating income, or adjusted earnings before interest and tax, to 3.33 billion euros ($3.7 billion), ahead of an average analyst estimate of 3.14 billion posted on the company's website. Revenue from eczema and asthma drug Dupixent, jointly developed with Regeneron (REGN.O), surged more than 43% to 2.32 billion euros, above a consensus of 2.27 billion euros. Finance chief Jean-Baptiste de Chatillon said in a media call that, for now, there would be no new annual peak sales estimate for the product, which Sanofi has put at more than 13 billion euros. Feb 3 (Reuters) - Sanofi (SASY.PA) on Friday forecast moderate earnings growth this year, saying higher demand for bestselling asthma and eczema drug Dupixent would be partly offset by competition for its multiple sclerosis pill Aubagio and product launch costs. Aubagio, with 2 billion euros in sales last year, will face competition from cheaper products over the next few months after losing patent protection, Sanofi said. The company reaffirmed its target to achieve sales of Dupixent, jointly developed with Regeneron (REGN.O), of 10 billion euros this year, up more than 20% from 8.29 billion euros in 2022. Sanofi reported a 20.7% rise in fourth-quarter business operating income, or adjusted earnings before interest and tax, to 2.72 billion euros ($2.96 billion), edging past an average analyst estimate of 2.69 billion euros posted on the company's website. Revenue from Dupixent surged 42% to 2.4 billion euros during the quarter ended Dec. 31, slightly above a consensus of 2.37 billion euros.
Consumers are choosing prosecco over Champagne and opting for cheaper tequila amid economic uncertainty. Still, the Champagne industry is on track to beat its sales record thanks to higher-income drinkers. The premium alcohol business saw a boom in 2021 thanks to traveling and partying finally being back on the table. Sales of Champagne also reached a record high of $5.7 billion in 2021, 14% higher than the pre-pandemic record, Reuters reported. But before you feel too bad for the Champagne industry, don't worry — it's still on track to beat its 2021 sales record, David Chatillon, chairman of the Union of Champagne Houses, told Reuters.
Champagne makers celebrate record sales ahead of Christmas

REIMS, France, Dec 21 (Reuters) - Champagne sales are expected to reach a new record this year, despite inflation that could have made consumers shun the expensive bubbly, producers said ahead of the start of year-end celebrations around the world. Champagne sales reached an all-time high last year at 5.7 billion euros ($6.05 billion), as the relaxation of pandemic-related curbs fuelled a surge in exports. "We will very likely beat this record again and 2022 will be the new champagne record in terms of turnover," David Chatillon, chairman of the Union of Champagne Houses (UMC), told Reuters in Reims, in eastern France, home to some of the most famous Champagne makers. REUTERS/Sarah Meyssonnier 1 2 3Export sales were also expected to reach record highs. The war in Ukraine and sanctions against Russia had little impact on Champagne sales as bottles were re-dispatched to meet strong demand from other markets, Chatillon said.
